Why Mongolian Music

I perform Mongolian music because I feel a deep responsibility to share the rich traditions of my homeland with the world. As a Mongolian-American pianist, I have been shaped by both the cultural heritage of Mongolia and my formal training in Western classical music, and I believe there is a unique opportunity to bridge these two worlds through the universal language of music.

After earning my Doctorate of Musical Arts with a focus on Mongolian music, I dedicated myself to raising awareness of this often-overlooked genre. Through my recitals, I aim to introduce audiences to the beauty and depth of Mongolian classical music, which blends ancient traditions with modern techniques. By doing so, I hope to spark curiosity and foster a greater appreciation for the sounds of Mongolia.

This is a series I have been performing since 2016, with previous concerts held at venues such as Cornell University, Steinway Gallery, the University of Arizona, and cultural centers in Boca Raton, FL, and Chicago, IL. Each concert is a chance to share not just music, but also a piece of my personal journey—my connection to the Mongolian steppe, my experience of growing up between two cultures, and my passion for preserving and promoting Mongolian music on a global stage.

I see this work as a way to build a deeper understanding between the cultures I come from and the audiences I perform for. Through my music, I hope to offer listeners a glimpse into the landscapes, stories, and emotions that define Mongolian music, while also showing how these sounds can resonate within the broader context of global musical expression.
